Course Description
Crown lengthening is a periodontal surgical procedure aimed at exposing additional tooth structure by removing gingival tissue and, when necessary, bone. This course focuses on functional crown lengthening, which facilitates restorative access and helps establish an adequate ferrule for long-term restorative success.
This hands-on course provides practical training and simulation on pig jaws, ideal for general dentists looking to gain confidence and competence in this valuable procedure.
Learning Objectives
Understand the indications and contraindications for functional crown lengthening Discuss periodontal flap design and osseous resective surgery Apply principles of crown lengthening to improve restorative outcomes Perform incisions and elevate mucoperiosteal flaps on pig jaws Practice osseous reduction (ostectomy & osteoplasty) on pig jaws Learn suturing techniques and explore appropriate materials for post-surgical care
